As a Medical Oncologist my objective is to spread Cancer awareness in a manner that is easy to understand. I want to familiarise people with basic, advanced and new-age treatments so that when they approach an Oncologist or while they are in discussion with one, the process of dialogue will become more meaningful. I also want people to make changes in their day-to-day life so the possibility of disease occurrence can be controlled. They will gain a certain degree of knowledge about this disease.

Vision

My vision is to conquer cancer and celebrate life by encouraging early detection and step-wise treatment. State-of-the-art treatment and personalised care will be provided to the patient so that any encounter with cancer culminates into a celebration of life. I work with a highly qualified team of doctors, radiologists and pathologists who will help and guide you through the process. At the same time sensitive counselling will also be provided to both patient and care giver to take them though the various phases and help them overcome this disease.

Immunotherapy in Cancer

For Dr Abbas this exploding field has remained area of interest for last four years and this field offers opportunities to patients which were earlier not there. Immunotherapy has given hope to hopeless patients. Although in its initial stages but holds a great treatment option so one has to use it judiciously. Not every every patient qualifies for immunotherapy. Only 30 % patients respond to immunotherapy and to select such patients is always a challenge. There are no predictive biomarkers yet but lot of data is emerging and very soon we will be able to detect who will respond to immunotherapy and who will not.

Hair loss happens because the chemotherapy affects all cells in the body, not just the cancer cells.
Many women are able to become pregnant after treatment for breast cancer. However, some treatments can make it harder to get pregnant. Radiation therapy treats many types of cancer effectively. But like other treatments, it often causes side effects. These are different for each person. They depend on the type of cancer, its location, the radiation therapy dose, and your general health.
